Raffi

When I was growing up, my parents had their favourites for us to listen to in the car. Sharon, Lois, and Bram, Bob Seger, Dire Straits, and Raffi.
Shortly after Connor was born, when we were having difficulties getting the little man to sleep, Dad went out and bought me a couple of Raffi CDs. Was I over the moon! Listening to it was like reliving my childhood. It brought with it reminders of trips to the farm, going to the zoo, and the long drive to Brockapulco. I would joyfully sing along to Bananaphone and Aiken Drum. However, after a 56 hour drive to and from Florida last year and countless trips in the car to day care, Hagershwegan, the mall, or even the store, Raffi now ANGERS me. I actually get angry at times when I hear his voice. Some of it is due to the number of times that I have listened to him, other times it is because I just want to listen to grown up music and one little person, who shall remain nameless, won't let me. I still believe that Raffi is a lyrical genius who is much like the Pied Piper for children. I, however, can not listen to him anymore!

"There was a man lived in the moon, in the moon, in the moon. There was a man lived in the moon and his name was Aikendrum.

And he played upon a ladle, a ladle, a ladle. He played upon a ladle and his name was Aikendrum.

And his hair was made of spaghetti spaghetti spaghetti. His hair was
made of spaghetti and his name was Aikendrum.

And his eyes were made of meatballs meatbalss meatballs. His eyes were made of meatballs and his name was Aikendrum.

And he played upon a ladle, a ladle, a ladle. He played upon a ladle and his name was Aikendrum.

And his nose was made of cheese cheese cheese. His nose was made of
cheese and his name was Aikendrum.

And his mouth was made of pizza pizza pizza. His mouth was made of
pizza and his name was Aikendrum.

And he played upon a ladle, a ladle, a ladle. He played upon a ladel and his name was Aikendrum.

There was a man lived in the moon, in the moon, in the moon. There
was a man lived in the moon and his name was Aikendrum."

I love that song! But I can totally understand how it would drive you bonkers. What about Baby Beluga?
